Mexican midfielder Gerardo Torrado made his debut for NASL Spring champions Indy Eleven. Torrado was featured in the starting lineup and played 62 minutes for Indy Eleven in its 1-0 win over Liga MX champions Pachuca in an off-season friendly match for both sides.
“We’re very excited to have him,” said Indy Eleven manager Tim Hankinson. “As he gets to know his teammates, their strengths and qualities in their game, he’ll know how to get even more.”
Eamon Zayed scored the lone goal of the game only seven minutes into the match taking advantage of some poor defending by the Pachuca back-line which couldn’t clear the ball.
Zayed nearly doubled the lead in the 26th minute on another defensive mistake when Jose Esquivel played a bad pass back. But Zayed chip shot went off target.
Pachuca pressured for an equalizer with a high 4-3-3. Jonathan Urretaviscaya and Franco Jara combined well in the 18th minute which was close to producing the tying goal. But Indy Eleven goalkeeper Ivan Ochoa was able to get a save on Jara’s shot denting the Mexican champions.
Pachuca continue to prepare for the upcoming 2016 Apertura season of Liga MX where it will look to defend its recently acquired league title in the past 2016 Clausura season.
