Timbers midfielder Diego Valeri named MLS Player of the Week

Diego Valeri was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Reporters (NASR) for week 16 of this 2019 season.

With a superb performance in last Saturday game against the Houston Dynamo, El Maestro scored a goal with three assists for a 4-0 win.

In the season Diego Valeri has scored four goals and tied in the league lead with 10 assists in 14 appearances (13 starts) in MLS play.

His first assist came in the 39th minute setting a up a goal to Marvin Loria, in the 61 minute scores the second goal via a PK, burying the ball in the lower left corner of the net.

The second assist came in the 63rd minute, the Andean floated a long pass down the left flank to Brian Fernandez, who cut with his right foot and laced his low shoot past the bottom right corner of the goal. The third assist came when he fed a ball to Jeremy Ebobisse in the edge of the 18- yard box.

With technique Jeremy Ebobisse right footed shoot beat again Houston goalkeeper Joe Willis that in spite of his efforts the ball went in with 75 minutes in the far post in the 75th minute.

To conclude the award of MLS Player of the Week is selected every week of the regular season through media and fan voting process conducted by MLS communications.

A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters makes 75% of the vote, the remainder 25% is via fans voting on Twitter. NASR is represented by print, radio, television and online media.
