Portland Timbers 4-0 Houston Dynamo
The Portland Timbers continued on their winning ways after last night victory over the Houston Dynamo at home in another sold out night in Providence Park.
So far, the Rose City squad has won their last three matches in consecutive fashion.
With two USOC wins over the Seattle Sounders and LA Galaxy, now it was the turn of the Dynamo to feel the wrath of the Timbers sudden turnaround in their game.
As both squads seeing some of its important players away on international duty, the Timbers with Andy Polo and Andres Flores and Houston Rommel Quioto and Alberth Elis.
In this match both sides looked even, still the Dynamo had a slight advantage coming to this match, and with a better position in the overall table of the Western Conference.
For the the Portland Timbers playing in their second home game of the season, these had all the pressure to get the win against a team so far in the season, playing good football.
As Giovanni Savarese for this match sent his initial eleven with a new face and finally making his debut with the big team in Marvin Loria. As well getting his second start for Renzo Zambrano in last minute change for Cristhian Paredes.
The boldness of Gio paid off again, as his initial eleven putting a total dominance in both halves but in the first 45 minutes of the game, putting in total disarray the likes of the Dynamo keeper.
This was to be Marvin Loria game, when a counter attack the Timbers put on display paid off in the 39′ minute, when Diego Valeri found Jorge Moreira he put the ball in Marvin Loria feet for the Timbers first goal.
Going into the half the Timbers had the lead, in the second half the Rose City squad continued on dominating the game with back to back goals when Loria was fouled inside the area.
The Timbers went ahead with a PK in the 61′ minute by Diego Valeri, then two minutes later a counter attack started by Brian Fernandez put the home side ahead in the 63′ minute.
From then on the Portland Timbers control of the game was evident and Houston settled to get the game official attention with cheap theatrics calling for non existent fouls and succumbed in the end.
To conclude the Maestro played honoring his name with another assist his number three with a pass to Jeremy Ebobisse who sent a shoot to seal the win in the 75′ minute.
To mention the overall performance of the Timbers defensive that put the Houston attack in check and not allowed them any liberties in their new and improved attack.
