FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution II have signed midfielder Patrick Leal via transfer from Italian Serie B side Venezia FC.
Patrick Leal is a 20-year-old 6’1 , 171lb central midfielder from Newton, Massachusetts.
At the club level, Leal has played 28 career games (1,731 minutes). For academies, Leal began with the New England Revolution academy in 2016 and netted 7 goals in 25 appearances before moving abroad to Portugal. While in Portugal, Leal joined Club Belenenses SAD (2017-2018) and then moving to sign a 5-year-contract with Sporting Lisbon CP (2018-21). He then transferred again, this time to Italy to play for Venezia FC. (2021-2023) in which he had 4 goals and 6 assists across 27 appearances with the team’s academy side. He registered 1 senior team appearance in the Serie A versus Cagliari Calcio on May 22nd, 2022. He now joins his 3rd professional club in New England.
Internationally, Leal has not appeared with any national team. He originally is from Newton, Massachusetts. Leal is of Portuguese descent through his father and holds a Portuguese passport.
In career numbers, the winger has contributed 4 career goals, 6 assists, along with 0 yellow cards and 0 red cards.
He officially joined the squad on August 4th.
The New England Revolution II (10-5-5, 39 pts.) return home to face New York Red Bulls II (10-6-4, 36 pts).
