Diego Alonso warns Inter Miami against D.C. United’s determined mindset
Inter Miami head coach Diego Alonso is aware of the bounce-back factor ahead of Saturday’s clash with D.C. United.
The capital club were left frustrated last weekend when they lost their home opener to Colorado Rapids. This weekend, Ben Olson’s men will be looking to bounce back, aiming to give their home fans the performance they were hoping for going into the opening weekend. And Alonso is aware of that, warning his Inter Miami stars they have to be up for the challenge.
“We expect to find a good opponent,” he said. “We’ve analyzed them. It’s a team that works well together as a collective and they will surely make it difficult for us.
“They’re in need of points since they weren’t able to win their last game playing at home and they will surely be seeking to get the three points.”
Miami put on an impressive display in its opening weekend, despite falling short to the reining Supporters’ Shield winners LAFC. Heading into week two, Alonso is hoping his men can build on that relative success to claim the club’s first ever points.
“For us, after our performance in our last match, we need to continue building on the things we’re doing right so we can improve,” he added.
“It’s a good opportunity for us to continue perfecting our style of play and improving the team.”
