NYCFC Look for Revenge in Toronto.

By all accounts New York City Football Club had a great season last year. They won the Eastern Conference and wracked up the most points by the club ever in Major League Soccer. One thing this did not do was beat Toronto.
In 2019 Toronto handed City an abysmal four to nothing loss away, tied at Yankee Stadium and sent City home from the playoffs. NYCFC look to right the ship in 2020 this Saturday as they take on Toronto again.
Anton Tinnerholm summed up the club’s mindset going into the match. “This game we’re going to show another NYCFC and we’ll remember what happened last year against Toronto both home and away, so we want some revenge. That game, especially the last one at home was tough and we haven’t forgotten about it.”
City will have to do it without Maxime Chanot, however , because of a red card against Columbus last Sunday. Most likely Sebastian Ibeagah will start instead or perhaps James Sands.
NYCFC’s head coach, Ronny Deila, looks for his men to rebound from a disappointing result in Columbus. “We get to bounce back now after the weekend. We were all disappointed that we didn’t get anything out of the game and now we’re going to have a strong opponent but we know we can hurt everybody when we are at our best.”
Greg Vaney’s men settled for a tie last weekend and will be looking for something more as well. IN the off season the club added Pablo Piatti and the combination of Piatti and Alejandro Pozuelo will be a formidable one indeed.
New York City can score and look for the attack to be much the same as last week. Tajouri-Shradi could and probably should be starting for Jesus Medina but there is still a question of match fittness. Tajouri-Shradi looked dangerous when he came on as a substitute in Clumbus. It will be New York City’s defensive line that will be tested again in Toronto. Piatti, Pozuelo and Jozy Altidore make up a potent trio of attacking options and will cause problems all day for NYCFC.
It should be a great match as neither team want to go winless in their first two games of the season. For NYCFC the question is :will it be a sweet revenge or more of the same?
