Inter Miami continues their great form at home as they’re starting to make DRV PNK Stadium a fortress, only losing once at home in their last eleven matches. It would take strong second half push from former MLS MVP Alejandro Pozuelo and second half substitute Ariel Lassiter to push Miami past the finish line.
It was an end-to-end game all night starting off with a NYCFC set piece worked to perfection. Standing atop the ball was Maxi Moralez who chip the ball to the back post, and it’d eventually fall to the Brazilian youngster Talles Magno who hit it hard, fast and true into the back of the net to give the visitors an early lead in the 34th minute.
It would not take the men in pink long to answer as Bryce Duke and Pozuelo would play a nifty one-two which would end in Pozuelo bending the ball around goalie beautifully for the equalizing goal in the 39th minute. It would be Pozuelo’s first goal for Inter Miami since being traded from Toronto FC.
Just eight minutes later it would be NYCFC would take the lead right before the halftime whistle. Going into the third minute of injury time after only one minute was allotted. It’d be the other Brazilian youngster in Thiago Andrade who would pounce on loose ball after being deflected multiple times in the box. The youngster would not miss his chance and rocketed the ball in the top of the net giving the visitors the lead.
It would only take until the 63rd minute for Miami to equalize again after an odd run which saw both a Inter Miami and a NYCFC player down simultaneously though play would go on. It would be the long time Argentian international Gonzalo Higuain who’d dink the ball through three New York defenders and found Ariel Lassiter who tucked the ball past the keeper and leveled it all up.
Then in the 84th minute, the game had slowed and it looked likely that the points would be shared this night. After a quick free kick in their own half, it’d be NYCFC’s number 7 Alfredo Morales who’d play a dreadful back pass that instead of his keepers it’d find the feet of Pozuelo. The Former MVP punished NYCFC once again and as he would calmly slot the ball past Sean Johnson and secure all three points for Inter Miami.
