The Mexican National Team become the latest side to have to alter its 23-man Copa America Centenario roster. Winger Jurgen Damm will have to leave the Mexican squad due to a left knee injury, he will be replaced by Candido Ramirez of CF Monterrey.

El Tri arrived in Arizona on Thursday ahead of its Copa America debut on Sunday against Uruguay with a full roster. Damm picked up the knee injury during Mexico’s final preparation match last Wednesday night against Chile in San Diego, CA. Damm and the coaching and medical staff hoped that the Tigres UANL winger could recover in time but that was not the case.

Mexico manager Juan Carlos Osorio likes base his attack through speedy wingers like Damm. The Colombian coach will not be lacking option to replace Damm as he has made sure to have plenty of option in that key position. Osorio can play with Damm’s fellow Tigres teammate Javier Aquino, Jesus ‘Tecatito’ Corona, young sensation Hirving Lozano or the newly added Ramirez.

El Tri kick off its Copa America participation on Sunday June 5 against at University of Phoenix Stadium against Uruguay. The South Americans too will be missing a key player in FC Barcelona striker Luis Suarez.
