A recent 2-0 loss to New York City FC in their last outing sees Columbus Crew wanting to get a positive result against a fatigued LAFC side. With Columbus having a full week of training, the Crew are looking to get a massive three points at home.
Match Preview: Columbus Crew vs LAFC
For LAFC, they come in looking to end their winless skid amidst a 2-1 loss to Austin FC midweek. A cross-country journey to Columbus, Ohio weighs heavy on the legs of Carlos Vela and company with minimal days to prepare.
“He’s so dangerous in many different ways. He’s quicker than you think, he’s more direct than you think; A lot of times you see a guy like him and he’s more of a creative player. He can drive at you, he can unbalance you, he can combine through you, he can come inside and play in the pocket and slip guys in. But his work rate and his athleticism on the ball is a litte different than most creative players that typically play like the 10,” said head coach Caleb Porter on Vela.
With LAFC holding the series lead 2-0-0, head coach Caleb Porter will look to spoil the parade in search of the Crew’s first win against their Black & Gold counterparts.
“As much as I’d love for them to not be able to run, that won’t happen. Guys can easily turn around in three days. They probably will have a few players rotate, but based on looking on their lineup I don’t think they’ll have too many guys rotate,” Porter went on to say about what he is expecting coming from the California side.
The last outing saw LAFC win 3-0 back in 2019 at Historic Crew Stadium.
