Seattle Sounders 2-Colorado Rapids 0
Score early and score often. It isn’t the splashiest of thoughts but it is certainly an effective strategy on the pitch. The Seattle Sounders used it quite effectively on Saturday at CenturyLink Field, scoring twice to defeat the Colorado Rapids 2-0.
Kevin Leerdam got things started for Seattle with his goal in the fifth minute of the match, his second of the season. Raul Ruidiaz added a second just three minutes giving the Sounders a 2-0 lead early. The Sounders defense did the rest shutting down the Rapids attack and limiting them to just three shots on target. Goalkeeper Stefan Frei did the rest, making threes stops for his first clean sheet of the season.
