Columbus Crew 3-Toronto FC 3

To come back from a three goal deficit in thirty minutes a club needs to have a certain set of skills. They need to have  experience dealing with difficult situations, a plan, and some folks in the seats that can get their spirits up. The players of the Columbus Crew (7-3-5, 26 points) have all of those and then some. Despite being stuck in a three goal with limited time remaining, they mounted a three goal comeback in their 3-3 draw with Toronto FC (3-7-2, 11 points).

Things were looking up for TFC for the first hour of the match as they received goals from Victor Vazquez (17′), Tosaint Ricketts (38′), and Sebastian Giovinco (57′). But Columbus kept their wits about them, narrowing their deficit with Gyasi Zardes (67′) and Alex Crognale (81′) making it 3-2 late. It looked like the comeback might fall just a bit short until Toronto FC midfielder Michael Bradley fouled Gyasi Zardes inside his own eighteen yard box. That set up a penalty kick opportunity for Federico Higuain, who coolly placed his chance past Toronto goalkeeper Alex Bono to give his side the draw and the Trilium Cup.
