COLUMBUS – On Thursday morning, the Columbus Crew announced the signing of MLS veteran Christian Ramirez from Aberdeen F.C. of the Scottish Premiership. Ramirez will be added to the roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.
“Christian is an experienced player who has shown the ability to score goals throughout his career,” says Crew President and General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “His addition to the roster will provide additional depth and strengthen our corps of attacking players, and we are looking forward to having Christian and his family join us in Columbus.”
Ramirez joins the Crew after spending the 2021-23 seasons with Aberdeen. During his tenure in Scotland, he scored 10 league goals in 45 appearances. Ramirez additionally scored three goals in six UEFA Europa Conference League matches and three goals in Scottish League Cup play.
In 2014, Ramirez joined Minnesota United, then of the North American Soccer League (NASL). That year, he captured the NASL Golden Boot scoring 20 goals, scoring just eight more than the runner-up. Ramirez joined MLS Cup winners LAFC via trade in August of 2018 and scored six goals and added two assists from 2018-2019. In August of 2019, he joined the Houston Dynamo where he tallied eight goals and their assists from 2019-2021 prior to his departure for Scotland.
