Toronto FC wins the title 7-4 on aggregate.

The Reds are champions of Canada once again. After having scored twice in Vancouver to give themselves a comfortable advantage in the 2018 Canadian Championship, Toronto FC shut the door on Vancouver’s title aspirations. With four goals in the first hour TFC defeated the Caps 5-2 to once again earn top honors.

Knowing that they were facing a Vancouver side desperate to earn some silverware, Toronto coach Greg Vanney opted to go to the attack early and often. Jozy Altidore (39′, 49′, and 53′)  knocked home three of TFC’s first four goals to put his side ahead. Sebastian Giovinco scored the third of their four unanswered goals, finishing off a cross from Jonathon Osorio in the 44th minute.

Vancouver did get two back early in the second half thanks to goals from Kei Kamara (63′) and Brek Shea (77′). But their comeback attempt was halted dead in its tracks when substitute Tosaint Ricketts scored in the 80th minute.

With the victory Toronto now has earned seven Voyageurs Cups, the most among any Canadian side. The victory also secures them a spot in the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League and an additional chance to become the first Major League Soccer side to earn top honors in this edition of the tournament. In terms of indvidual honors the George Gross Trophy for Most Valuable Player of the tournament was awarded to Osorio.
