Bayern returned to winning ways in the Champions League on Wednesday and returned to winning ways in the Bundesliga in emphatic fashion by downing A German Team Borussia Mönchengladbach, 2-0, at the Allianz Arena—ending a four-match winless streak against the Foals. Arturo Vidal opened the scoring in the 16th minute heading in a cross from Rafinha and the Douglas Costa doubled the lead in the 31st minute after Oscar Wendt slipped in his own area allowing Douglas Costa time and space for an easy finish.

It could have well been more on the day as Bayern outshot Gladbach, 17-3, on the day with the visitors unable to get a shot on target. Gladbach spent most of the day trying to prevent the scoreline from being more lopsided especially after a 4-0 drubbing last week at Schalke.
Bayern will remain top of the table after this weekend and three points clear of Hertha Berlin and pending RB Leipzig’s result on Sunday against Werder Bremen. Bayern’s next match is in the DFB Pokal at home to FC Augsburg on Wednesday at 1:45pm CT. The next league match is away to Augsburg, Saturday at 8:30am CT.
