Inter Miami players have returned to training in small groups.
Following around a month of voluntary training, the Herons returned to the practice field in small groups on Thursday.
There were plans to start earlier this week but MLS and the Players’ Association locked heads over a number of issues, leading to players across the league staying away.
The CBA is now ratified and those issues have now been addressed ahead of a proposed World Cup-style tournament in Orlando this summer.
Speaking about the return to the grass with teammates, Inter midfielder Wil Trapp said: “I think what was awesome about the small group training was the fact that we got to pass the ball to each other, to interact in a more realistic perspective.
“That was amazing for us as players. We actually got to work on tactical concepts that we’ve only been able to speak about conceptually. To be back on the field in that context is amazing.
“Just that little bit of something new, something desired, it changes a lot in our mentality.”
Trapp also spoke about the importance of being able to train with teammates rather than working individually, as has been the case in recent weeks.
“I think the synchronization of us getting back on the same page, of the chemistry and building those connections, will once again come quickly because although we haven’t been able to physically interact with each other, I think we’ve done a good job of connecting on a social level throughout this entire ideal,” he added.
“The hope is that we can draw upon those relationships quickly and get back to something on the field that resembles exactly what we want.”
