Local lad Tyler Rosenlund led WFC2 out on a bright and blustery Sunday afternoon as they chased a second win of the USL season.
15′ Former VIU Mariner, Victor Blasco hits a well-executed volley destined for the bottom corner but it’s well saved.
21′ Caleb Clarke turns superbly in the area and fires low but Quillan Roberts is equal to it.
GOAL 33′ Clarke opens the scoring with a clever finish over the keeper. The through ball from Ben McKendry and the timing of the run from Clarke couldn’t have synced up any better.
Brett Levis was a livewire in an attacking role behind Caleb Clarke. The pair gelled well with Blasco in the first half as chances flooded WFC2’s way.
GOAL 57′ Jay Chapman pulled away from Cristian Dean and directed his header past Carducci for the equalizer. A lovely cross from the left by Raheem Edwards to set up a nervy final half hour.
RED 68′ Blasco is sent off for a quick double booking. Back to back robust challenges on Mark Anthony Kaye saw the Spaniard lose his head with his team on the ropes.
72′ Chances were coming in waves for TFCII. Second half substitute Marco Nunes had the pick of the bunch. Marco Carducci had pushed a shot into the forwards path and with the goal gaping Nunes managed to sky his effort miles over the bar when it had looked easier to score.
RED 77’ Mark Anthony Kaye who had instigated the pair of bookings for Blasco received his marching orders after bringing down McKendry on a breakaway allowing the game to level out and end in a stalemate.
Alan Koch will have been delighted with the sellout crowd of 3,200 at Thunderbird Stadium but slightly disappointed they couldn’t win it with the amount of chances they created in the first half.
