The United States Men’s National Team prepares to face Honduras and then Panama in the next rounds of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying. But before the U.S. squad came together, two of its players faced off against each other in Liga MX. Michael Orozco of Tijuana Xolos hosted Jorge Villafaña and his Santos Laguna teammates.
This will be Villafaña’s first official call up to the senior side. He was part of a January camp in which the U.S. played a couple of friendly matches. Playing in the official World Cup Qualifying matches will officially cap-tie Villafaña to the U.S. The Mexican-America defender also held the option of representing Mexico but says he always preferred to play for the American side.
