Recently the anti-racist campaigning group kickitout.org, organised a conference at Arsenal FC’s Emirates Stadium.
Called Raise Your Game, one of the functions is to provide career advice for aspiring youngsters who want to work in football from those already in the game. Those who provided their time to give that advice were known as mentors. One of the most famous and successful of those mentors present was Times football writer Henry Winter.
He took some time out from his highly appreciated advice to talk to us about why he was so happy to help an organisation like Kick it Out, how racism has changed in England over 20 years, his reservations about the Russia World Cup and who he’d love to see win it.
