Unity was all the Portland Timbers needed

Finally, that first win of the season came for the Portland Timbers against an all-favorite Columbus Crew. Still this did not come easy after seeing a battling Crew putting on a fight all game long.

However, the Portland squad did put in a marvelous display of unity and hard work in the field.

Now the next test for the Portland Timbers is another squad having a prolific run in the season in the Toronto FC and playing at always-difficult BMO Field.

To recall last weekend amazing performance and revival of these Timbers is somehow something to describe this squad awakening and returning to its old winning ways.

Still this comes with a lot of positives but a numbers of negatives to work on in the course of the week. The entire win came in the right time and fills these squad levels of confidence to an all-time high.

By seeing an offensive attack stepping up and scoring three goals as well the defensive unit improvements in its entirety and limiting the Crew attack to just a single goal.

Somehow is something to see if these team setbacks put in the past and now are focusing on the remainder of the season and display the game these are comfortable with along the teamwork that has brought them many triumphs.

However, the negative was on the Timbers goalkeeper risking his position to much that almost would cost his side that hard fought win in the end. That lone goal was just a bad judgement from Jeff Attinella and hoping not to see another repeat.

In addition of Jeremy Ebosisse not taking advantage of the opportunities that at least he could had a couple of more goals in the game instead of that single one, the need for him to have a motivator is a must.

That in spite of the Crew rallying in the second half, the Portland defense and initial eleven stood its ground and came away with the win. The only negative was that erroneous play that would give the Timbers a clean sheet.

Anyway, a win is a win and now focus in the next matches not so easy but in the end not too difficult for the Portland Timbers.

The need of the defense to step up in the future will be imperative if this club wants to finish in the positive with his long and challenging road stand, among those challenges is one called Alejandro Pozuelo.

The chap in his first year in MLS is making it look to easy and becoming a total nightmare for opposing defenses but the Portland defensive backfield somehow is catching up on their game and these could put an abrupt stop the Spaniard and the whole TFC.

In Gio I trust!
