The Union showed up to play in front of a sellout crowd in Philadelphia on Saturday night, dousing the Chicago Fire 3-1.
With 2 goals on the night, Chris Pontius proved to many that he still has a scoring touch. Having been unable to find the back of the net thus far in 2017, Chris Pontius has relieved some weight from his shoulders, especially after bagging 12 goals in 2016 and winning MLS Comeback-Player-of-the-Year award.
CJ Sapong made a milestone of his own, netting his 14th of the season, equaling the all-time Union record, previously held by Sebastien Le Toux. With just 4 games left, Sapong looks likely to break the record, and write his way into the Union’s history book.
