The Philadelphia Union beat the Chicago Fire Wednesday night thanks to a Roland Alberg hat trick. He could have had 4, but his first shot ricocheted off of the post, hitting a Fire defender before relocating into the back of the net.
With the loss of Vincent Nogueira the Union were desperate for midfielders to step up and take over his role. Tranquillo Barnetta has dropped into Vincent’s deeper midfield role, allowing Alberg to step up into the number 10 spot. In his last 3 games Alberg has notched 5 goals as the Dutch midfielder is finding his form, as well as his place in the Union squad.
