Union return home to PPL Park against Revolution

Club looks for second win. Clean sheet for McCarthy.

After watching and reviewing Thursdays game versus NYCFC the only way to look at Sunday’s game is to expect it to be tough against a good Revolution team. I don’t think the Union will be able to sit on their heels. They will have to play tough defense team and win the midfield at the same time be quicker and more decisive on the attack especially finishing in 18 yard box. To be on top at the final whistle they will need major finishing contributions from Aristeguiteta and Le Toux.

The Revolution have the talent at midfield to pressure and win the ball. But if Maidana can give the Union a solid 70 minutes with another strong performance from Ayuk with support from Edu they stand to neutralize the Revolution’s strength at midfield

Of course, John McCarthy and the rest of the back line will have to play strong. McCarthy has shown fearlessness but must defend his line better than in the last 2 games where he has been shaky at times. He won’t get the time he got against NYCFC against the Revolution.

The Revs become extremely dangerous when both Nguyen and Rowe dominate if the Union midfield gets lost. Rowe’s is not afraid to shoot from distance, and although Nguyen’s may have shown some lack of form recently he is a solid playmaker not to trifled with and allowed space around at the top of the box.

The Union need the win but the Revolution are last seasons Eastern Champs. Look for the team with the most determination to be the winner.
