The Houston Dynamo had a strong second half and even though they struggled to find the equalizer, a late goal gave them a much deserving point at home against a well-managed Colorado Rapids.

The visitors looked okay with the point. However, they are leaving Houston knowing they could have gotten all three points for themselves.

The first half of the match was dominated by the away squad. They created more chances to score via Diego Rubio, Mark-Anthony Kaye, and especially Michael Barrios, who used his speed in the right side of the field to cause trouble to a discipline Houston defense.

Houston tried to make something in offense, but they struggled in their last touch. Fafa Picault, who has been one of the most important weapons for the Orange, struggled Saturday night to find his rhythm and help his side to find a goal. The best player for the home team was Darwin Quintero, but he could not do much by himself.

Colorado showed its superiority with a goal in the 41st minute. Kaye scored off a corner kick to give his side the lead. He found the ball inside the small box after Dynamo’s goalkeeper Steve Clark was not able to clear it, for an easy scoring.

The second half Houston controlled more the possession of the ball, but the were still struggling in offense. About the 60th minute, Houston coach Paulo Nagamura made some substitutions and the team looked more aggressive and sharper in their last third. The feeling at the stadium was that it was a matter of time for the equalizer to be put up on the scoreboard.

Canadian Tyler Pasher was one of the substitutions. He had two plays where he could have scored a goal for his team. Even though Dynamo was pushing to get a goal, Colorado’s defense was keeping a clean sheet so far.

It was until the 90th minute that Houston found the goal. Tyler Pasher had a one-on-one opportunity against Rapids’ keeper William Yarbrough. Pasher’s shot from outside the box beat Yarbrough and with that the forward rescued a point for the Dynamo.

After the draw, Houston now has 5 points after 4 matches. On the other side, Colorado has also played 4 matches, but they have earned 7 points so far in the season.

Dynamo’s next match will be in Florida where they will play against Inter Miami, whereas Colorado will host their rival Real Salt Lake. Both matches on April 2nd.
