Tottenham to sign Spanish youth international Dani Olmo

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with different other teams over the last months, but Spurs have given the Argentinian the transfer funds to attract new players this summer and the 47-year old has therefore decided to stay.

Ex-Tottenham player Pascal Chimbonda believes there never was a chance the trainer was going to leave the club. “Tottenham would never have let Pochettino leave the club this summer. They know how valuable he is and [the club]will give him the funds he needs to improve the squad”, the Guadeloupian defender recently said in an exclusive interview .

Two acquisitions have already been made during this transfer period; Jack Clarke is returning from a loan spell at Leeds and central midfielder Tanguy Ndombélé is coming to London after two successful seasons with Olympique Lyon, making 65 appearances in total. Early July, Ndombele signed for Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth €62 million (£55.45 million) plus up to €10 million (£8.97 million) in add-ons.

Now, rumors are that Tottenham is leading chase after opening talks to sign Dani Olmo from Dinamo Zagreb for €25m (£22m). Olmo was a product of the Barcelona youth academy before moving to Zagreb in 2015 where he became one of the most desired young football players in Europe, having played a great season. The Spanish youth international contributed 12 goals and 9 assists for Zagreb last season, and he has also drawn the attention after scoring the winning goal for Spain during their Under-21 European Championship final win over Germany this summer.

Spanish newspaper AS claims the attacking midfielder is open to moving back to Spain but might be ‘seduced’ by the idea of playing in the Premier League, so Spurs are leading the chase to secure a deal. It is likely that Olmo will be replacing Christian Eriksen in the center of the Tottenham team as the Danish international has expressed his desire to leave London this summer.
