Game Preview: Toronto FC Vs Columbus Crew
Sunday, July 31, 7:30 PM – BMO Field, Toronto, Canada.
Toronto FC is preparing for its Sunday match against the Columbus Crew following the MLS All-Star break.
TFC’s perennial all-star and superstar, Sebastian Giovinco played in Thursday night’s league showpiece, in which the MLS All-Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal. Despite Didier Drogba scoring for the MLS’ best eleven. Giovinco capped off an eventful week by also being named MLS player of the week, after scoring a hat-trick in his last match.
For Sunday, Toronto FC emerge as the clear favorites for the match, as Toronto, who sit fifth in the Eastern Conference are coming off a dominating 4-1 win versus D.C United, where Giovinco scored his aforementioned three goals.
The Columbus Crew on the other hand sit ninth in the Eastern Conference standings and are coming off three straight underwhelming home draws. Columbus however does hold somewhat of a psychological advantage over Toronto as they are 12-5-10 all-time versus the Canadian club.
Sunday’s match will mark the third and last time the two clubs will meet this season; with their first two encounters both ending in draws.
