Top 2:
Blas Perez
If you are going to open your goal scoring account for a new team why not score two and have the second goal be the MLS goal of the year.
Coming on for the injured Masato Kudo in the 19` minute wasn’t the plan Perez had when the game started but he made the best out of the situation. His first goal was a great goal scorers goal. He saw the play building up down the wing and made a straight run for the front of the net. He knew a cross was coming and had to make sure he was in the proper place to have a chance at the cross.
His second goal was a thing of beauty, a 89` min game winning goal off a fully extended bicycle kick is something every player who plays the game at one time in their life dreams of. The best part was Perez had no clue the ball had even gone into the net until he saw his teammates running towards him.
With Rivero still coming back from an injury and Kudo out for a few months look to see Perez get the start this weekend against Toronto FC.
Pedro Morales
He has settled nicely into the defensive midfield spot on the pitch lining up next to Matias Laba. With him being the man between the defenders and forwards it is giving him way more touches and a better look at his teammates moving forward and springing the attack. The more Morales has the ball at his feet the better the team plays, it is that simple with this team.
He had a great pass over the top and down the wing to lead Bolanos who went to set up the first Perez goal on a nice cross. That goal doesn’t happen if Morales is in the attacking midfielder role and congested in space. The farther back he is gives him way more open space and time to find his teammates.
Bottom 2:
Tim Parker
After having a great game against NYCFC a few weeks back, Parker has been struggling lately and it wasn’t any different this game. Playing between Kendall Waston and Jordan Harvey he stood out as the weak link on the pitch. The problem with Parker this season it has been either a great game or a bad game, there is no in between with him this season.
Might be time for Parker to sit the bench for a games to rest up and see the game from a different point of view.
Cristian Techera
Another game and another so so effort from Techera. He hasn’t been bad but compared to Nicolas Mezquida and Christian Bolanos`s efforts lately he has been the weaker player on the pitch. Look for Kekuta Manneh to return to the starting lineup and Techera to return to the bench for the upcoming games.
With how well the team has been playing the past week Carl Robinson might be tempted to keep the starters the same, minus Kudo due to his fractured jaw but sitting Techera will be a good move in my opinion.
