Top 2:

Pedro

Pedro Morales

It was an outcome that the captian needed not only for himself but he needed to show his home supporters that he is able to step up and make a difference. Too many times this season he has struggled, missed the net by inches and hasn’t been able to play like a big time designated player. This game he was able to be all three and the supporters let him know they appreciated it when he was subbed off late in the game.

He made a beautiful run on his goal to stay onside well taking the pass from new comer Techera. With one touch he was able to curl the ball into the net. You know his confidence was high when he started celebrating before the ball was in the back of the net. With all his close misses this season there was still a thought in the back of many minds if his shot would actually make the net.

Was also able to find Mattocks and a great through ball that set up the 3rd goal of the game. Something that the team had failed to do this season before this game.

Cristian Techera

For only his 2nd game this season the bug as he is known as sure made an impact. Was able to find Morales on a great over the top ball so the Whitecaps could open the scoring and never look back. He was able to show his speed down the wing and his abilities to get into the middle of the pitch and create chances. Used his speed going for a 50/50 ball and was able to get Marquez to lead studs up and get him sent off with a red card.

With all the games coming up he should be seeing a lot more of Techera on the pitch and see what his complete skill set holds.

Bottom 2:

Teibert Kah
Russell Teibert

Wasn’t horrible this game but was one of the players that showed some struggle at times. It looked like he was a little hesitant to jump into the play as he has so well this season. When he did jump up into the offensive flow of the game it looked like he wasn’t able to get through or around the Union defensive midfielder Maurice Edu.

Still had a lot of bright spots but when you win a game 3-0 there has to be a player that wasn’t as good as the rest.

Manneh fights for ball
Kekeuta Manneh

Manneh was the same as Teibert, wasn’t bad but wasn’t as good as his teammates during the game.

Needed to show more of his offensive game when playing a struggling opponent like the Union. He wasn’t able to run at defenders and make any scoring chances for himself or his teammates. With players like Darren mattocks finding his form and Techera waiting in the wing this game was a lost opportunity for Manneh. If he wants to keep this starting spot on the roster he has to step up and show the coaches he can make a difference game in and game out.
