Timbers Travel to Costa Rica for 2020 Preseason

For the Portland Timbers, 2020 will be a year of many challenges, as the club is to start its preseason in the paradisiac land of Costa Rica for preseason training and to play three friendly matches against Costa Rican first division sides.

Timbers preseason began in Portland, Oregon on Monday, January 20 till January 27 before they depart to this Central American nation.

The Rose City side will begin a 14-day training camp in Costa Rica at Complejo Deportivo Fedefutbol Plycem home of the Costa Rican Football Federation.

In San Jose, the Timbers will face off against the nation’s top club Deportivo Saprissa on Saturday, February 1st, then Municipal Grecia on Wednesday, February 5th, and close against C.S. Herediano on Sunday, February 9th.

Their return to Portland will be on Monday, February 10th to resume preseason training and begin to prepare for their 2020 Preseason Tournament at Providence Park where they will face off against Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Minnesota United FC, and New England Revolution.

To kick off their 10th Anniversary since joining Major League Soccer, the Portland Timbers will host the Loons of Minnesota Unitedin the season opener on Sunday, March 1 at 4:30 pm (PST).
