The Portland Timbers roster is taking shape during the preseason. After this club, front office is hard at work to bring the ideal players to Rose City. So far, the arrivals of center back Claude Dielna and a new goalkeeper in Aljaz Ivacic as their novelties in this 2019.
With the first order of business coming for the Portland squad in their preseason camp opening this past Monday January 22 at the Adidas Training Center. With a total of 23 players suited up and three missing due to their national teams call up. One being forward Jeremy Ebobisse calls up by the USMNT and for both Marvin Loria and David Guzman with the Costa Rican national team.
For this club front office, busy at work and under the direct orders of their man in the helm of shaping this squad as a total competitor. With a number of players put in a free agent, list the past month. Suddenly the Portland Timbers decided to bring back four players that for sure will make a difference in the upcoming 2019.
To close this post, the Portland Timbers have not closed their activity on the transfers market. So far, they are targeting a couple of players from the Mexican League and the League of Greece.
With a player property of Tigres UANL of Monterrey, their target is a Colombian origin forward Julian Quiñones. The other player pursued is AEK Athens Argentinian Ezequiel Ponce. Nothing confirmed so far in the official acquisition in these two players but in conclusion, these two 21 year olds fit the Rose City squad pattern. Below are the four players that Portland Timbers announced their return.
* Andres Flores- this midfielder native from El Salvador last campaign he made played in 26 games with 11 starts and scoring one goal. He averages a total of 1159 minutes with 83 minutes start in the postseason. For Andres Flores return means good news for the Portland Timbers seeing in the Central American a total fighter and difference maker when he gets the call.
* Tomas Conechny- the man from Comodoro Rivadia, Argentina this young and diminutive attacking midfielder back to the Rose City squad on loan from Argentinian side San Lorenzo. With the Portland Timbers, he average four games with one start, playing a total of 72 minutes. In T2he scored one goal in two matches.
* Steve Clark- the man that delivered a one of kind performances in eight matches played coming off waivers from DC United. The man conceded just two goals in four home matches and recording two shut outs. The experience of Clark made a world of difference in the last matches of the campaign. The man from Mason, Michigan became a worthy and valuable backup to Jeff Attinella while the DL.
* Eryk Williamson- A prospect of high caliber, the Alexandria, Virginia native is one man destined to big things in his career to make the big jump. In T2 he did 15 appearances (15 starts), the man contributed with three goals two assists in a total of 1252 minutes. With the Portland Timbers, his debut came in the US Open Cup against the San Jose Earthquakes. Originally, he came from DC United on January 23, 2018.
