Toronto, ON – Tigres is the 1st Campeones Cup, the Aztec Club defeats the MLS Champion in Toronto. For the first time ever, MLS and Liga MX organize a tournament of this category.
With a maximum lineup of 11 stars, the Vanney Boys couldn’t stop the roar of the Mexican Club Tigres.
Il Capo, Sebastian Giovinco, was looking for all the balls possibles in his sector, seconded by The Man of New Jersey, Jozy Altidore, who was attacked a couple times without much referee sanctions.
Both clubs were fighting hard to win the ball possession in the first part but Mr. Goal comes at 36′, Jesus Dueñas with Junhino’s help to score in the Alex Bono door for the 1-0.
TFC found some spaces, something very good for Giovinco, but was neutralized by the line of 4 armed by Ricardo “Tuca” Ferreti.
The 2nd goal for the visitor comes from the efforts once again from the Man of the Match, Dueñas, from out of the area, turns on the fireball with a lefty, impacting on the bottom corner of Bono’s Arc.
The team of SAN Nicolas de Los Garza turn the match in a pic-nic, something that put the performance offered by the Canadian team off-balance.
Unfortunately for Bono, Eric Zavaleta was more focused then usual changing the ball trajectory and surprising the American Cerberus providing the result of the 3rd annotation in favor of the Aztecs.
For the Canadians, Lucas Janson scored by penalty goal at the height for the Canadian Champions.
Some factors could be the reason for the loss of TFC, like the early substitutions of Altidore and Giovinco, respectively.
