Providence Park, Portland, Oregon
Portland Timbers at a glance
There’s a lot in stake for the Portland Timbers in this upcoming Cascadia Derby, with a win this Friday night, for sure these will solidify their position above the red line.
So far, for Portland have one advantage coming to this match, playing as locals the remainder of its games at home, and in Providence Park, the Timbers are one tough team to beat!
As the Timbers aware of the Sounders current skid, the need to capitalize on their arch rivals weakness, somehow is a must if these are to return to their winning ways.
And why not doing it, against their North of the I-5 foes.
Still in their meeting back in Seattle back in July 21, the Timbers came victorious in what used to be a tough venue and thanks to a brace from Brian Fernandez, becoming somehow the Sounders Killer.
I do recall after that win in Seattle’s Century Link Park, the tension between these two elevens was very visible and with no doubt we are about to witness part II.
The Portland Timbers are ready and with conviction to net an important result, especially when this team puts on a display of unity in its game, that no one can counter, this team is ready!

Seattle Sounders at a glance
Rivalry week kicks out this weekend with one of the most disputed and most celebrated of rivalries in all of Major League Soccer, the Cascadia Derby.
As the Seattle Sounders currently winless in their last four games, a win in Providence Park for sure will uplift the Emerald City side, confidence and momentum.
For manager Brian Schmetzer, he is looking forward from his starting eleven a good performance and net a positive result that will get his side out of their slump.
Still the outlook for a win against the Portland Timbers in Providence Park, will be one tough challenge as the Rose City Boys are no walk in the park, especially when these play at home.
In spite of the Portland Timbers losing at home against Atlanta United, these for sure will come hungry, making it in the end, this will not to be an easy game for both sides.
I see manager Schmetzer sending a 5-3-2 formation to counter against the Timbers attack.
