Montreal Impact 2-1 Portland Timbers

Reserves comprised the starting eleven for the Portland Timbers yesterday in Montreal.

Still in that game against Montreal for Giovanni Savarese not having his first squad making the trip and resting them ahead of their conference match against FC Dallas.

Coming to the City of Mary and looking forward to continue with the team winning ways, for Gio instead he gamble with a different initial eleven. With 16 players of those making the trip were just five of them from his big team.

The Timbers put on the field several of its T2 and reserves in the starting lineup.

For the Timbers Boss it was business as usual and giving the opportunity to young players to shine in the big stage. As many of them really showed off their readiness to league prime-time in the big team.

Unfortunately, for this starting eleven this match expose some negatives but a lot of positives but in the end these fell prey of a much inspired and determined lad in Impact Orji Okwonkwo.

As the first half showed the nervousness of some of the Timber players, as time progress these became more confident in their roles. However, in defense the Timbers once again raised a red flag for allowing some spaces that led especially for Okwonkwo two scores.

Contrary to the Portland Timbers activity in the past weeks, the Impact came well rested and looking forward to another win at home as well over another Cascadia Team.

The first goal of the game came in the 28th minute when Bacary Sagna passed to Okwonkwo beating his mark in Claude Dielna and in spite of Jeff Attinella efforts, these fell short.

As this Portland Timbers team showing off a lot of fight and with Marvin Loria playing like a veteran and providing the shoot that Cascante failed to connect, it found Tomas Conechny.

The Timbers were on the scoreboard in the 53rd minute via Conechny who scored his first goal in the big team with a nice header to tie the match at one goal apiece.

To conclude this match was to be for the Impact with another defensive blunder by the Timbers lacking a sort of more zealous defending and leaving Okwonko do what does best score goals.
