Pablo Bonilla is no longer a Portland Timber defender after the club waived him in an announcement this Friday.
For the 23-year-old man from Venezuela, he played in 38 regular season games (30 starts) for the Portland Timbers, with two assists across his four seasons with the club (2020-23).
Bonilla originally signed with the MLS NEXT Pro side T2 from Deportivo La Guaira FC ahead of the 2020 season and earned a first team contract in June of that year.
For now, Portland’s depth takes a hit with the departure of Bonilla, but in the end, retain two starting fullbacks in Juan David Mosquera and Claudio Bravo, leaving Eric Miller and Justin Rasmussen the options manager Giovanni Savarese for the position.
It’s unclear what are the plans of the club to substitute the likes of Pablo Bonilla or what the club will be looking for in the future as the club has a couple of options in T2.
