The Rose City team for this upcoming season will be celebrating their 10th anniversary in Major League Soccer, as they will host the Loons of Minnesota United on their season opener.
A match scheduled for Sunday, March 1 at 4:30 p.m. (Pacific), as the league marks its 25th season, it unveiled details for each club’s home- opener matches for its upcoming 2020 season.
Back in 2017 on the Timbers home opener against then expansion side Minnesota, the Portland Timbers edged the visitors by a score of 5-1 and on April 14, 2018 the Timbers won against at home to a 3-2 win over the Loons.
So far, for the Portland Timbers these have an undefeated record playing against Minnesota in their home openers with a (2,0,0), overall the Rose City side has a (5,1,3) in all its home openers.
In this 2020 the league will welcome two new clubs in expansion sides Inter Miami CF and Nashville SC and the league schedule for each club will be of 34 games, including 17 home games and 17 away games.
Teams will face their conference foes twice during the season as well the league has awarded 10 regular season matches against other conference foes on a scheduled to later revealed in the upcoming weeks.
