Gavin Wilkinson got his wish in forward Brazilian Nathan Fogaça. Per Ryan Clark’s story from the Oregonian, the Brazilian signed with the Portland Timbers affiliate T2 on April 22 of this year and is now headed to the first team.
His trademark mark of scoring was very visible in the past fundraiser for Ukraine held at Providence Park with both Thorns and Timbers playing in this exhibition game and scoring two goals.
Fogaça 22, comes with an impressive record on his time with USL side San Antonio Scorpions where he scored 13 goals and with 4 assists in 34 games. He became an important part of the San Antonio team that lead them to the conference finals and lost on penalty kicks. Originally, he came to play in the United States via a loan from the Brazilian side Coritiba FC.
So far, his debut with Timbers 2 in MLS NEXT Pro League against Real Salt Lake Monarchs proved to be a difference-maker in the entire game. In that game that went to a shoutout, he scored on the penalty kicks, and against Colorado Rapids 2 in a 3-1 loss. He recorded his first assist.
With his credentials, maybe Fogaça can deliver as expected in a team not scoring a goal in 285 minutes and with Jaroslaw Niezgoda not able to make an impact with just two goals in ten games. This is it for Fogaça to turn heads and deliver with much-needed goals.
