Major League Soccer has decided to postpone next Saturday’s match between the Portland Timbers and the Colorado Rapids after the Rapids reported additional cases of COVID- 19 amongst players and staff.

Two more players and one staff member tested positive for the virus, prompting MLS to reschedule the match until November 4, 2020 at 10:00 pm EST.

On September 24, the Colorado Rapids reported that one player and three staff members tested positive and since then have not been training with the team. The Rapids game against Sporting Kansas City was also postponed and has been rescheduled for October 21, 2020 at 9:00 pm EST.

Last Monday, the club announced that one additional player and seven additional staff members have confirmed cases of COVID-19 prompting Major League Soccer to cancel next Saturday’s match for the health and safety of all players and staff.

So far, all of the Colorado players and staff with confirmed cases of COVID- 19 have entered self- isolation.

For the Portland Timbers, this break will allow them to better prepare for next Wednesday’s match against the LA Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
