The Portland Timbers added the fourth keeper to its roster today with newcomer Justin Vom Steeg. Vom Steeg joins the club from the LA Galaxy and will be under contract through the whole 2022 campaign and exercising an option for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
In his career with the Tinsel Town side, Vom Steeg has made a total of 58 appearances with the team USL side Galaxy II in 2017 and signed with the Galaxy in 2018. However, his firsts professional contract came with Bundesliga’s top-tier side Fortuna Dusseldorf in August 2016. Spending two seasons and playing a total of 13 matches for Fortuna Dusseldorf II.
At UC Santa Barbara, he earned 2015 All-Big West Honorable Mention honors and was named to the 2015 Big West All-Freshman Team. His record as a freshman in 2015 he had a total of 20 starts and a record of 13-5-1. At the international level Vom Steeg has spent time with the U-14, U-15, U-17, U-18, and U-20 U.S. National Team squads.
Justin Vom Stegg is a 24-year-old keeper with a 6-4 height that will become the Timber’s fourth, joining David Bingham, Aljaz Ivacic, and Hunter Sulte. Welcome to Rose City Justin Vom Steeg!
