Minnesota United 2-1 Portland Timbers

ST. PAUL, MN–Minnesota United delivered a class act win over a hapless Portland Timbers with a second half comeback. Eric Ramsay’s moves in the second half became the difference maker at Allianz Field.

With the Portland Timbers going up on the scoreboard in the first half on a goal from Jonathan Rodriguez in the 17th minute, it looked like the Portland Timbers were going to exorcise their demons back in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The Portland Timbers played a very laid back game and that’s when the Loons staged an epic comeback in the second half when manager Ramsay made a total of four changes bringing Robin Lod, Sang Bin Jong, Kervin Arriaga and Tani Oluwaseyi in place of Carlos Harvey, Caden Clark, Franco Fragapane and Bongokuhle Hlongwane.

In the end, these moves became providential for the local United side that paid off for them and not only tying the game but delivering the game winner.

Robin Lod scored the equalizer in the 65th minute, and later Sang Bin Jong scored the go ahead goal in the 82nd minute, giving Minnesota the win and extending their unbeaten streak to five.

Minnesota (7-2-3, 24 points) move to second in the West while the Portland Timbers (3-7-4, 13 points) fall to 11th and still haven’t been able to win at Allianz Field, and a number of questions are being asked about the future of this team and its man at the helm.
