Portland, OR-The morning after the Portland Timbers victory at Sporting Kansas City, where they firmly secured their spot in the MLS Cup final in Atlanta, the club wasted no time to start the count down to Saturday’s December 8th final against Atlanta United FC. The Timbers, in partnership with Daimler Trucks and Hampton Lumber, loaded the traditional victory log on one of its Western Star trucks from its home at Providence Park in downtown Portland to Atlanta.
“Isn’t this one of the most beautiful trucks you ever seen”, said Timber Joey as people gather to wish the log, and the Timbers good luck. “We are going to Atlanta to steal a cup” one of the fans proclaimed with her hand on the log.
The log will make almost a 3,000 mile trip across the country to be with the club and its supporters as the Timbers square off against Atlanta United FC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium at the 2018 MLS Cup on Saturday, Dec. 8. The log is expected to arrive in Atlanta by Thursday, December 6th.
