Portland is itching for the new season as they line up for up to three hours and a half for a new edition of the fan axe photo shoot. After the success of their first one in 2011 Portland’s debut year on MLS, the club decided to give it another go and the response has been overwhelming and a true testament to the support that the team enjoys.
Today’s photo shot is set to end up today about the same time the team will be on the way for another 90 minutes of real test, while in the next few days, social media will be flooded with axe pictures from proud Portland fans ready to kick the MLS season. But if you you couldn’t make it today, next week end there will be more, as the axe photo sessions are set to end on February 15th at 5 PM.
With the team about to take the field in Tucson in the warm-ups ahead of their second preseason match against the Houston Dynamo tonight 6:00 PM PST, far from home and with a noticeable but small crowd following them on the road, this images are sure to boost morale.
The Portland Timbers will be back in town and ready to take on its own Simple Invitational Tournament in Providence park set to begin on February 22nd,with MLS Chicago Fire, Vancouver Whitecaps and the Norwegian association football club Stabæk Fotball.
