Houston Dynamo 2- FC Dallas 1

The Dynamo continued being a dominant at home as they beat Dallas 2-1 in a new edition of the Texas Derby in Houston. The Orange remains undefeated at home as they continue with the best start in club’s history with a 6-1-1 record this MLS season.

Colombian striker Mauro Manotas, who is being the main offensive guy for Houston, scored a brace at the 20’ and 58’ to give the victory to the Space City team. With these two goals, Manotas now has 40 goals with Houston.

The Colombian commented after the match that how the “team worked was a key to get the victory in the derby”. He also mentioned “the mentality is to get stronger in order to battle for a playoff spot and eventually for the title.”

Moreover, Jose ‘Memo’ Rodriguez said after the match that “the rivalry against Dallas is real. Since I was in the Dynamo Academy, I always wanted to beat Dallas and it is very good we got the win this afternoon.”

On the other hand, the North Texas team battle for the win, but the pressure and solid defensive game from Houston complicated the offensive idea FC Dallas had at the beginning of the match. This is why this was a difficult loss for Dallas, who lost its third game of the season. In addition, they drop a couple of places in the West Conference standings.

Now, the Dynamo who sits on third place in the conference, will travel to the North West to face the Seattle Sounders on Saturday May 11th whereas Dallas will host the NY Red Bulls the same day.
