In a 10 year partnership agreement between Sporting Kansas City and Children’s Mercy Hospital the home of the 2015 US Open Cup champions will have a new name. Children’s Mercy Park.
As part of the partnership deal Children’s Mercy will open a sports medicine and rehabilitation center at the National Training Center soon to break ground in spring of 2016. The facility will serve the Sporting KC Acadely players in addition to offering sports medicine services but resources for youth athletes from all sports.
After a previous agreement with Livestrong which provided the club with the initial name to the stadium this falls right in line with thier philanthropic efforts that the club likes to be part of.
Children’s Mercy is one of the top pediatric medical centers in the United States, located in Kansas City. A not-for-profit hospital, Children’s Mercy provides care for children from birth through the age of 21. It is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals” recently received for a third time in a row Magnet nursing designation.
This writer has personally known many persons who have been cared for at and by Children’s Mercy Hospital and has been personally impacted by the efforts of the hospital which was founded in 1897.
