Sporting KC 3 Seattle 0

Some times you just get things oh so right.

Sunday July 24 2016 was that time.

Sporting Kansas City has faced Seattle Sounders numerous times and has come away with many missed points.

Many heartbreaking moments in league and cup both.

Until Sunday the one moment of triumph was the 2012 Open Cup.

Now you can chalk up 7/24/16 as another.

Sporting put their last two matches behind them as they completely dominated the Sounders during the whole match.

Two goals from Dom Dwyer and one from Jacob Peterson sealed the doom of Sigi Schmidt.

His tenure at the helm of Seattle looks to be coming to an end.

After the countless times where SKC was dispatched in dramatic fashion many will be happy to see the back of the former MLS Cup winning coach.

Matt Besler out of MLS All Star Game

Getting injured in training is never fun. Right prior to the annual MLS All Star Game where you’re the sole representative for your team is worse.

The MCL injury, the reason Besler pulled out of the Sunday win and the All Star Game, has been ongoing since earlier in the season.

Despite playing in the Copa America and many matches prior the club captain has never fully recovered and with this continuing Sporting Kansas City fans will have to cross their fingers that Ike Opara stays healthy.

Sporting U-13 in CONCACAF Champions League

The U-13 took part in the group phase of the CONCACAF Champions League U-13 tournament, the second year of the tournament, in Mexico City against the likes of CD Santa Ana of El Salvador, Chorillo FC of Panama and Pungarabato of Mexico. An opening 2-0 loss to Santa Ana was followed by consecutive 2-0 wins over Pungarabato and Chorillo.

With progression to the quarterfinals ensured the young Sporting players will be pitted against Costa Rican CS Herediano on Wednesday.

Swope Park Rangers 3 Orange County 0

Another bright spot in the Sporting Kansas City network the USL SPR domination of Orange County has given the squad a current spot in the 2016 playoffs.

After starting the year brightly followed by a long run of misery it would seem that Marc Dos Santos has found a formula that not only is helping the team win but build momentum in terms of being able to develop talent for SKC.

The academy players are still making the bench, Nansel Selbol coming on in the 69th minute. Jon Kempin kept another clean sheet and Honduran loan Ever Alvarado got the full 90 minutes which will mean that making the Sporting KC match squad is closer to coming up.

At this moment any and all development of the academy players would be whats needed to give birth to MLS ready players who will contribute to the mother club without needing to bring in draft picks or transfers.
