Sounders Women sign Canadian Internationals Campbell and McNicoll for 2015
With the 2015 season closing in, the Sounders Women have added important pieces. The recent signings of Canadian International Kinley McNicoll and Ashley Campbell adds to the growing roster for 2015.
Campbell started her freshman year off strong at the University of Dayton accumulating a total of 12 goals and 4 assists, earning a total of 28 points. By her junior year she was invited to participate in the Canada’s U-20 National Team training camp and had recognition on the TDS National Top 100 list while garnering All Atlantic 10 First Team honors, All Ohio First team honors, and NSCAA All Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team honors.
“Ashley’s direct style is an asset to our squad,” explained Head Coach Hubert Busby Jr. “Ashley has tremendous pace and combines well with other players.”
McNicoll, a top-100 freshmen in the nation by TopDrawerSoccer.com, was selected to Canada’s national team for the U17 FIFAWorld Cup and competed in the 2014 FIFA U20 World Cup as Canadian team captain leading the team to the quarterfinals. McNicoll was a First Team All Big Ten selection as a junior and won the Big Ten Tournament Offensive Most Valuable Player award in 2014. She was a 2013 Second Team All Big Ten selection after being named to the Big Ten All Freshman Team in 2012.
“As captain of the Canadian U20 National Team, Kinley has shown tremendous leadership qualities even at a young age. She is another versatile and technical player who we are happy to have join our team,” finished Busby.
Campbell and McNicoll arrive shortly to begin the summer W-League season in Washington.
The Sounders Women resume their pre-season exhibition matches on Thursday, April 23rd at Seattle Pacific University at 7pm. Tickets and the schedule can be found online at www.sounderswomen.com
