Sounders Women sign Arlitt and Waters for 2015
The 2015 season is getting closer with each day and Coach Hubert Busby Jr. is adding important pieces as the league season grows near. The recent signings of Alex Arlitt and Nicole Waters, formerly of the Gulf Coast Texans, adds to the already potent roster for 2015.
Arlitt was a 2011 SEC All Freshman player at LSU after her two time MVP status at Clear Lake High School in Houston, Texas. The 2012 LSWA First Team All Louisiana selection went on to be a College Sports Madness 2nd Team All SEC player as a junior before heading into her senior season. Arlitt’s senior season was limited due to a severe ankle injury that she has now moved past.
“Alex in another player who we have been monitoring,” explained Busby, “She is a competitor who is very technically sound as well as being very versatile. She is a welcomed addition to our squad.”
After starting and playing all 23 games her junior season at Dayton, Nicole Waters brings her competitive nature to the Sounders Women this summer. A 2012 All Atlantic 10 All Rookie selection, she followed that year up by leading the nation in assists per game as a junior. Waters put two assists on the board six different times as a sophomore while receiving First Team All Atlantic 10 accolades.
“Nicole is a very skillful player and she is a tremendous athlete. She has an incredible work rate and is a box to box midfielder who will contribute to the squad at both ends of the pitch,” finished Coach Busby.
Both Arlitt and Waters will look to build on the tradition of a winning Sounders Women program. Come check out the young guns this summer!
The Sounders Women start their pre-season exhibition matches on Sunday, April 12th at 1pm at Bellevue high school against Washington State University. Tickets and the schedule can be found online at www.sounderswomen.com
