The Houston Dynamo dropped another game at home last Saturday, this time against the Seattle Sounders, losing 1-0. The Emerald City team got an important win after losing at home last week in the Cascadia derby against Portland.
Jordan Morris scored the lone goal of the match for the visitors, which jumped his team to second place in the conference with 38 points, whereas the home team remains with 30 points, outside of a playoff spot.
The match saw a Houston team that wanted the victory, but who struggled in the last third of the field. Missing Romell Quito and Alberth Elis was something the Orange were not able to overcome. Their game plan was to control possession by maintaining control while they used the wings to create opportunities to score. However, Seattle played a smart game by pressuring at midfield and having a solid defensive game based in a well organized back-line.
The Dynamo attacked in a disorganized way, which left spaces in the back that were used by Sounders Nicolas Lodeiro, Jordan Morris and Cristian Roldan to create chances on offense. After Morris got the goal at the 59’, Houston’s attacks increased by including more offensive players that came off the bench, such as Michael Salazar and Ronaldo Pena, but the frustration of team was so evident that every chance was missed.
After the loss, Houston will have another opportunity in front of their home crowd on Saturday August 3rd when they will host the Chicago Fire. On the other side, Seattle will host Kansas City on Sunday 4th, where they will try to remain in one of the top spots in the Western Conference.
