Matt Johnson presents Duffy with his award

Prost Amerika is happy to welcome a brand new Seattle writer to its beat team Duffy Alverson. Among his qualifications, Alverson was awarded the title  Sounders FC Matchpass Fan of the Year last season. He will provide matchday reporting as well as editorial content on Sounders FC.

He is best known in Seattle for winning the ward. Speaking of his award, he said:

“It was a total surprise. Not that I didn’t deserve I did! I went to Charleston for the CCC and went to Toronto for MLS cup. But my rep kept the secret well. I was stoked when I found out, a bit of  local boy did good.”

Duffy is currently a co-host on the respected soccer show Yellow Card Podcast. Host Stephen Charles Brandt spoke of Alverson’s deep Sounders knowledge.

“Duffy is a welcome addition to the family at Prost Amerika. His in-depth knowledge of Sounders, and Seattle soccer is second to none. Duffy, an accomplished Chef, is the 2017 Sounders fan of the year. This season, he brings his knowledge, and unique outlook on the Sounders.

“As the host and creator of Yellow Card, I look forward to the continuing development of Duffy as media guy, he’ll be as good a writer as he is a person.”

Although, Alverson has only presented a podcast so far, writing is in his DNA:

“My dad was a writer. But that’s been part of my trepidation to be honest. He was a great writer and editor of a newspaper for years. I’m not as good as him but I love the sport. I’m a proud American Outlaw but’m not in an official club supporters’ group, But I very much have a fan’s perspective. Really I never thought I’d being doing a podcast either. Yet here we are. I’m excited to start.”

You can hear Duffy Alverson on Yellow Card Podcast on BlogTalk Radio on Wednesdays at 7.30pm est, with Brandt and producer Jonathan Molik.
