On the eve of a contested 2018 campaign in Major League Soccer. The Portland Timbers added another notable piece for their attack. As Samuel Armenteros has become one of their newest members.With a busy preseason this club directives have been hard at work looking for the right players to reinforce this squad. One by making it into a total contender and to improve its game. Samuel Armenteros is one of those important additions to the Timbers game by adding more depth.
For the 27 year, old native of Sweden and coming with an impressive CV from his playing time in Europe.
His professional debut came in the Netherlands top flight Eredivisie Heerenveen in 2008. After a brief sting in this club he moved to Heracles Almelo from 2009- 2013 with 100 apperances and 26 goals. Then transferring to Belgian side Anderlecht, for a year with 5 appearances and one goal.
From 2013 to 2015, he spent his career with three squads on loan. After playing in Belgium he moved back to Feyenroord and later to Willem II. In Feyenoord he participated in 19 games and scoring one goal and with Willen II playing 29 games and scoring 11 goals.
Later moving to Azerbaijan FC Qarabag for two years and later moving on to Heracles Almelo with 29 matches played and 19 goals. with FC Qarabag he had six starts in the Europa League, scoring a goal against monaco for a 1-1 tie.
That a one of a kind performance got the attention of newly promoted Serie A Benevento. Another highlight of Armenteros. Performing for Sweden in the U-17, U-19 and U-21 levels. Also making his debut with the Senior National Team in June 13-, 2017. In this match agasint Norway he scored the tying goal, so far earning two caps with Sweden.
In one of my conversstions with Manager Gio Savarese, he stated his desire of continuing with the tradtional 4-2-3-1 formation. However with the firepower that Armenteros will provide. I do believe that the first year man at the helm of the Timbers can switch ocassionally to a 4-4-2 formation with Adi and Armenteros in the attack.
Furthermore the way Samuel Armenteros came to Portland was via the Targeted Allocation Monies. The Timbers under these resouces and the ones they obtain in the Nagbe deal. That made posible the arrivals of Paredes, Polo and now Armenteros.
The Portland Timbers by reinforcing the squad, the prospects of its newcomers of making it big. Especially Samuel Armenteros in MLS are vast as this man talents and sense of scoring aided by the Timbers one of a kind midfield. All of these elements will become a sort of terror to opposing defenses. Coming to Portland was one positive move for Samuel Armenteros. The Swede will occupy an international spot awaitng for his International Transfer Certficate ITC and P1 Visa
