Sunday’s 1-1 draw between San Jose and Orlando City was far from an attractive affair.

After Brek Shea was issued a red card in the 51’ the Quakes still struggled to score the opening goal and it was a David Bingham mistake that led to Orlando earning a penalty kick in the 63’. Kaka stepped up and calmly put it away to take the 1-0 lead but minutes later it was Orlando’s turn to give up a penalty and Chris Wondolowski converted from the spot to tie the match and score his 100th career goal.

Ratings are based on a 1-10 scale:

  1. Horrible
  2. Awful
  3. Poor
  4. Flawed
  5. Adequate
  6. Good
  7. Very good
  8. Great
  9. Superb
  10. World Class

David Bingham: 4
Bingham was not overly active in the match but his decision making again was suspect. There was really no need for him to come out on Cyle Larin and try to punch that ball away. His poor decision cost his team a goal this time in a flawed performance.

Victor Bernardez: 5
Bernardez is somewhat responsible as well for the penalty as his poor defending on that play led to Larin getting to the ball first.

Clarence Goodson: 5
An average game for Goodson and he did well to get into the attack late to try and score a winner. His headed chance was decent but he also took some poor shots from distance which of course surrender possession.

Jordan Stewart: 7
Both wing backs played well for the Quakes and it was Stewart who earned the penalty that led to the equalizer. Throughout the match he was active in attack and defense and had opportunities to break the tie late that he couldn’t capitalize on.

Marvell Wynne: 6
Wynne has been a fantastic acquisition for San Jose and he proved that again against Orlando City. He does very well to be physical in defense but still manage to be an attacking threat.

Matias Perez Garcia: 6
Perez Garcia struggled to get quality balls into the box on corners and a nagging leg injury had something to do with his discomfort throughout the match.

Shea Salinas: 7
Again Salinas is so dangerous on the wings and uses his great ball control to give defenses fits as he did at times against Orlando. Salinas is quickly becoming an integral cog in the San Jose attack after starting the season coming off the bench.

Chris Wondolowski: 6
Take away Wondo’s penalty kick goal and his performance was nothing special. You can’t deny he is the most passionate person on the pitch and often the hardest worker, especially in the box, but the ball just didn’t fall for him. Those looking for examples of his character and personality should look no further than his decision to not celebrate his 100th goal and instead run the ball back to center field to spare as much time as possible for an equalizer.

Sanna Nyassi: 6
As frustrating as it can be to watch Nyassi at times, he showed why he can also be a joy to watch. He made a few nice runs up the sidelines with some great ball control and got dangerous balls into the box. San Jose needs him to play like this consistently for the team to continue to have success.

Fatai Alashe: 7
The rookie did a great job at containing and minimizing Kaka and Brek Shea in the center of the field. His passing still needs improvement but he has easily proved his worth as a starter.

Adam Jahn: 4
Jahn was practically non-existent for most of the match. Quakes fans are undoubtedly questioning whether Kinnear should continue starting Jahn over fan favorite Tommy Thompson who has seen minimal playing time this year.

Substitutions

Cordell Cato (for Nyassi 71’): 5
Cato seems more comfortable playing in a defensive role for this team at this point. He looked to be out of place taking over for Nyassi in midfield.

Khari Stephenson (for Jahn 68’): 4
Stephenson was sloppy in place of Jahn and doesn’t seem like a proper replacement as the top striker.
