San Diego Wave put a strong performance on the road as they beat Houston Dash 3-0 in Texas. In this match, Allysha Chapman was recognized for playing her 100th match 1n the league.

An early goal by Alex Morgan gave the Wave control of the match right from the beginning. At the second minute of action, Dash defender Natalie Jacobs tried to pass the ball back to goalkeeper Jane Campbell, but the pass was short, and Morgan took advantage of that to score the partial 1-0 of the game.

After the goal, Dash tried to find the equalizer. However, they looked shaky on all sectors of the field. San Diego kept pressuring the home side and despite not having the control or possession of the ball, the California squad managed to create the most dangerous chances to score.

Ebony Salmon along with Michelle Alozie and Maria Sanchez were the front three players for this match. Alozie used her speed to give Dash chances to score, but San Diego’s defense were on point led by goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan. The closest plays for Dash to find the equalizer in the first fourty-five was via Joelle Anderson who had two chances, but her shots were off target.

The second half was very similar to the first one. The difference on this was that San Diego finished their plays in offense. At the 58th minute, Sierra Enge doubled the lead for the away side. At this point of the match, they still were the best team on the field. The third goal for the Wave came in at the 79’ minute when Alex Morgan assisted Madison Pogarch for the final 3-0.

After the win San Diego is in the top three of the standings with 15 points. On the other side, Houston goes down to the tenth spot with only 9 points after 8 matches played.

The result for Houston raised some eyebrows especially in coaching as the team looks lost and with no reaction after some events during the matches. We need to remember this team has a new coach in Sam Laity and perhaps they just need more time to adapt to his coaching style.

Next for Houston is a  trip to the Midwest to face Kansas City while San Diego will host two matches. The Californians will host Portland Thorns in league action and then OL Reign in the Challenge Cup.
